AHS Heart Walk 2013.... Heart Scarf

After a lot of fundraising and preparation, the Heart Walk finally came. My team raised $1075.00 and counting!

Joyous events like these help us remember and heal our own broken hearts after the loss of my Dad 2 years ago. The Heart Walk this year is very close to the anniversary of his death. As it is, we are only two days from the day he had a massive heart attack and our lives changed forever. It still feels surreal. I still look for him... hear his voice... see his face. And as we approach the anniversary, I start to relive the events again. Like 9/11. You can ask anyone on 9/11 where they were and they know what you are talking about. They share their story, you share yours. Distant memories that haunt us all. It will be the same for me on 10/09 and the days leading up to it. Year after year.

This year, in honor of the Heart Walk, I made a heart scarf from this patternIt was very easy to make. I used a G Hook for the scarf and an H Hook for the border.

My Sister-In-Law, who I taught to crochet a few months ago, made this cute heart ear warmer and wore it for the walk.
I wonder what we will make next year? Heart bracelet? Heart belt? The sky is the limit.

Thanks for reading. Share your story about how Cardiovascular Disease has affected your life and join a Heart Walk near you!
